Above is my website homepage. I have included images of local Cornish athletes in order to appeal to my target audience. This goes against Andy Medhurst's 1997 theory of youths being "Awful because they are not like us" this is because I am portraying youths in a positive light which they are not normally seen in in the media.

For my front cover, I realised I had put my text too close to the edges of the page. Because of this, in my final front cover, I moved all of the text inwards slightly and rearranged my text so that it fit on the page correctly. Other than this issue, I am happy with the look of this page.
This is my contents page draft, I decided to change this to a double page spread for my final contents. I did this to add more information, I felt I did not have enough room for information and I felt that the page was fairly bland. I also had no burgundy on this page which is in my colour palette of my front cover. I felt like I needed to add this colour to keep continuity throughout all of my pages.
Here is my double page spread draft, I was very happy with this page although I felt it was lacking colour and continuity. Because of this in my final double page spread, I changed the page and added a white border and some colour to really make the page pop.
I began by blurring my main image,before I did this, I cut out the athlete. This blurred effect gives a look of speed.
I copied the athlete and placed her back where she was but not blurred. This gives the viewer the idea that she is running so fast that the background is blurred.
I began adding coverlines to my page to build a template to add other information. I carried across the lines either side of 'Advanced' onto my contents page for continuity.
Here I added a header and footer which gave my page a border like look. I added a barcode to fit with common codes and conventions of regional and international magazines. I have kept all of my fonts very similar yet used larger bold fonts for important information that I wanted to stand out. For example 'Why elites are different'
Here is my final front cover after looking at the page in detail, I realised that my text was all too close to thew edges of the page, because of this I had to use indesign to re-align everything on my page.
This is my final front cover, here, everything is aligned and looks proportionate. I am happy with this cover. The female on the cover relates to Laura Mulvey's theory of the male gaze. This is because she is wearing very little clothing, you could argue that is she is trying to draw attention by doing this, as she is on the front cover of a magazine and trying to sell it to customers, drawing male attention. However, I disagree that she is doing this because this is a typical outfit for female athletes on the track in summer.
I created these small example magazines to fit onto my billboard and my contents page. I didn't fill them with lots of detail as they were minor images.I created two of these and used my front cover as the main one. You can see this on my final contents page and cover.
I started by putting a title on my page and adding an advertisement in the bottom right hand corner. This shows my audience that they are able to purchase my magazine and have it delivered to them.
Here I have added a side bar to let people have an insight of what they can read about within my magazine. I have also added a border for my title to give the page some extra colour.
I added the stories to my side bar and some images to add some more detail to the page. I also added my website address so that my audience can find my magazine online.
I began adding small teasers next to my numbers on my contents page. This will make my reader want to read on and find out what is in my magazine.
Here is my final contents page, with my full list of teasers and advertisements, I think this appeals to my target audience as it features a Cornish athlete competing at high level, this relates to Hebdige's theory of youths as trouble and youths as fun. It relates to this theory because the athlete is trouble to compete against as he is a good athlete yet is having fun doing what he loves.
Here is my construction evidence for my double page spread. I began with my main image as the background. I chose to only use one image as I felt it would be more effective and appealing to ym target audience. I decided to cut my title out so that you could see the image through the text. I liked this idea as I did not want to hide much of my image. I kept a white border around my image so that it did not take up the whole page and it allows room for my website etc.
I added the yellow and white lines which feature on my billboard and contents page to keep continuity throughout my pages. I also put my sub-heading in burgundy to keep with m colour palette and add ysome colour to the page.
Here I have added my website address sop that my readers know the can find us online, page numbers and some coloured lines to give the page some brightness.
This is my final billboard. I really like this design as it fits with the black and white style on my billboard yet still features the same colour palette ad my other magazine pages.
