Lily England A2 Final Media Evaluation

Final Front Cover

For my final front cover, I did not make very many changes to my draft at all. I really liked my draft except for the fact that the text was too close to the edges of the page. Because of this I made the decision to move all of the text slightly inwards and rearrange the text so that it all fitted around the page properly and looked proportionate. The image of the female athlete on this page applies to Laura Mulvey's 1975 theory of 'The male gaze' this theory says that women are objectified on front covers of magazines wearing little clothing in order to see the again to men. However you could argue that my magazine is not doing this as it is not selling cars or others things males are interested in, I am advertising sport and the outfit my athlete is wearing is a typical outfit for female track runners. Overall I am really happy with the outcome of this page and there isn't anything I would change about it. I really enjoyed creating the blurred effect of the background and I think I will use this technique again when creating another project.

Final Contents Page

For my final contents page I decided to turn my draft into a double page. I did this because I felt like there wasn't enough room for the amount of text I wanted to add to the page. Making the page spread across two pages enabled me to add more information yet still keep the pages looking spacious and not too cluttered. I like the fact that th page is busy yet there is still free space around the page. Overall, I am happy with the outcome of this page and I am happy that I have kept my colour palette the same as my front cover. This keeps continuity throughout my products.

Final Double Page Spread

This is my final double page spread, I decided to change it from my draft because I felt that my draft did not have enough colour on it.  I am really happy with this final page as I think it features enough colour to keep continuity throughout all of my pages. The white border around my image enabled me to add my website address at the bottom, page numbers and bring my article off of the image slightly. I wanted to bring my article off of the image so that you could see more of the detail within the image. For example the water splashing  around the athletes feet and face.

Final Billboard

Here is my final billboard, I added my magazine examples so that my target audience will know what is to come. I put my logo in the top corner of billboard so that my readers will recognise my brand. My tag line is "Chase the Cornish coast and discover Cornwall with Running Kernow" The use of the lexis 'chase' relates to the fact that is it a running magazine this also relates to Higson's theory of regional identity and gives my readers a sense of regional pride. I put my logo at the bottom right of the page so that people are aware of my brand being available online too. All writing fits with the colour of my colour palette, keeping continuity throughout  all of my products.

Final Website

Above is my website homepage. I have included images of local Cornish athletes in order to appeal to my target audience. This goes against Andy Medhurst's 1997 theory of youths being "Awful because they are not like us" this is because I am portraying youths in a positive light which they are not normally seen in in the media.

Front Cover Draft

For my front cover, I realised I had put my text too close to the edges of the page. Because of this, in my final front cover, I moved all of the text inwards slightly and rearranged my text so that it fit on the page correctly. Other than this issue, I am happy with the look of this page.
