Audience Analysis

The primary target audience for my magazine are mainstream pop music lovers. Their average age could range between 14 years to over 30 years old. My main aim is to keep a simple theme throughout my magazine with iconic pictures that represent my magazine style. Pop music can appeal to a wide range of people from anywhere and any background. There is no set target audience. Pop music is simply down to a matter of personal preference. The lyrics of mainstream pop music are also very relatable to most people and that is why anybody can enjoy it. My magazine will focus specifically on mainstream pop and what is going on in the charts involving this particular genre.

AS G321: Print Brief

Preliminary exercise: produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. Additionally candidates must produce a mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasp of the program.Main task: Create the front page, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine.

I have chosen to create a music magazine based on a magazine called 'Billboard'. I have chosen this magazine because I like it's simplicity and the style of the magazine. The genre of music I have chosen is mainstream pop music. I have chosen this genre because most people listen to it and it is the main genre of music that is most commonly played on the radio also. I personally listen to this genre as it is easiest to listen to whatever mood you are in. I hope to learn new skills when carrying out this task and developing my knowledge of certain editing programmes.

The preliminary task will help me prepare for the main task in the sense that I will learn terminology and how to analyse before I take on there main task. In the main task I hope to achieve A front cover, contents page and double page spread to a standard that actually looks like a real magazine.
